The Design of Sustainability - Design Droplets

A little time has passed since our last newsletter and we have been quite busy working on a range of projects, some of which you won't see until 2010.
Design Droplets, the online Industrial Design Magazine, has published an article by yours truly. The article discusses Sustainable Design and tries to put forward some practical and implementable actions to increase the sustainability of a design practice or product oriented company.

Designers Accord Adopted
Since our last newsletter CAPRON design has adopted the Designers Accord. The Designers Accord is a global coalition of designers, educators, and business leaders, working together to create positive environmental and social impact.
As a design firm member/adopter, CAPRON design undertakes to
• Initiate a dialogue about environmental and social impact and sustainable alternatives with each and every client
• Rework client contracts to favour environmentally and socially responsible design and work processes
• Provide strategic and material alternatives for sustainable design
• Undertake programs to educate our team about sustainability and sustainable design
• Measure our carbon footprint and water usage and pledge to reduce both annually
• Advance the understanding of environmental and social issues from a design perspective by actively contributing to the communal knowledge base for sustainable design

iK Project underway
Work on the iK Project has begun in earnest. The project is an automotive concept design for a private client that reflects his personality.
